many women who suffer from eating disorders and post-trauma in many cases do not receive a dedicated response to the treatment of an eating disorder, both in the behavioral aspect (nutritional monitoring, personalized menu, supervision and support at meals) and in the aspect that emphasizes the source – the trauma.
In Israel, there are treatment frameworks that provide solutions for treating eating disorders and separately, frameworks that provide solutions for women with complex trauma. There are very few dedicated frameworks that emphasize both the trauma and the eating disorder, therefore the waiting lists for dedicated treatment are longer than usual.
‘Alma Beit Mazen’ was established with the aim of providing an intensive treatment framework, for women only, which is an alternative to hospitalization with a leading multi-professional team in the field and available 24/7. The house is run in an enveloping and family atmosphere and is a safe place for the women. Our goal is to prevent hospitalizations and reduce the feeling of stigma and differentiation from society. We try to respond as soon as possible, without long waiting lists in order to prevent the situation from worsening.
